Winter Tips

Skin Care For Runners

Our skin is largest organ and performs some of our most important survival functions including heat regulation which is the one thing that your body prioritises over everything else.

1. Moisturise

Riding or running against the wind can make your skin dry and dehydrated which can lead to cracking. So it’s a good idea to keep your skin well moisturised. Check out our range of moisturisers that keep skin soothed, moisturised and protected. As they are free from common irritants and sensitises they’re also gentle on your skin.

2. Protect

Get your self a good barrier cream anti chafe cream. The anatomy around the seat area, underarms, can experience constant abrasion and friction whilst running. A quality barrier cream will reduce friction and the chance of sores. Oh and going commando lets the cream work to its best potential. However, if that’s a little too adventurous wear loose fitting pants that allow your skin to breathe. You’ve got to take care of your delicate parts my friend, you’ll thank me later!

3. Hydrate

The simplest way to keep your skin hydrated is to drink plenty of water, both when on and off training. Water is essential for your bodily functions and dehydration can make you feel lightheaded and tired. So be sure to prepare for your everyday life and runs by drinking plenty of water throughout your day.

4. Invest in your Layers

Choose your kit carefully, you want material that isn't going to chafe when wet, so you want materials that are going to breath well, moving perspiration away from the skin and protect you from the elements, that naff club top or free race T from the 90's might be restricting your performance and causing unnecessary discomfort.
